The Soulshifters were costed at 1 less than their CMC to avoid being able to recur them every time they die, or at least that's what I understood.
That's no excuse for that horrendous cost. Still, a spirit made of pus with pus globules floating around it has a strange appeal...

They could have made this like a 5/5 deathtouch with those abilities and it still wouldn't see play, but at least it would be worth of being printed. This thing is just bad.
