he really *is* like a sucky, mono-black vengevine...
I'd still prefer Ichorid, since a 2-toughness four drop will die as easily as a 1-toughness one that will kill itself, but keep bringing itself back...

The ground begins to swell, bleed, and weep pus. Akuta, Born of Ash bursts from the wound in the earth like a giant maggot from a rotting corpse.
Another one of my favorite cards! This guy is awesome in my black kami deck. He ensures you always have a spirit to trigger off your abilities and combos.

@lateralisone; How do you expect to have more cards in hand than each opponent on turn 2?

Well, build a black Deck with discard abilitys.

The big drawback here is "if you have more cards in hand than each opponent". Any Modern deck that wants to play this will be running things like Smallpox, Rotting Rats, etc, meaning that you will rarely have more cards in hand. The whole point is to discard your own stuff also, and card for card that means you're down unless your opponent is playing aggro as well. The only exception would be something crazy like Vexing Sphinx or Zur's Weirding. Overall, you are better off running Bloodghast or Nether Traitor, usually.
