Very nice protection, the Soulshift will probably come in hand if nothing else because it's such a high mana. But oh sweet mercy look at those stats. And since the Protection only applies to creatures, it's bound to get toasted via sparks by anyone you actually manage to annoy with it.

Mana costs were so out of whack in Kamigawa. All the spirit creatures are so overcosted. Why would I pay 5 mana for a 2/1 body, even with good abilities?

I realized that he blocks most relevant finishers. If only he cost 1 less he could see some play, if he costed 2 less he'd probably be a legacy sideboard staple against Tarmogoyf and similar, at least for budget players.

Still it has soulshift 4, and close enough to protection from creatures. The 2/1 for 5 just shows how bad they got chewed out for the mirrodin block, and were trying to be extra careful.

Guys, this is better than it looks. Its one toughness doesn't really matter since most creatures won't even be able to deal damage to it. If you bolt it, sure, whatever, I guess I'll just bring back my Crib Swap.
What is important to remember is, CMC to power and toughness ratios are not everything. Clearly, if all that matters is that ratio, then Phytohydra is worse than Face of Fear.

EDIT: I just realized that the token that Crib Swap gives counts as a spirit, which means that it can block and kill this. I guess it's not THAT good.
