I'd rather have Boros Fury-Shield. That said, I still like this.

Good against opponents using powerful creatures.

pretty good i own one has its moments like when they have a combo for a 999999/999999 and you kill it and get (virtually) infinite life

Underrated by many for sure. There's a reason they haven't printed it in Xth or beyond and it's because it would have rocked the crap out of the power boosted creatures since the Lorwyn block.

Something far overlooked with this card is the way it gives you a great deal of freedom with your own attacks... It's actually a really fun surprise to use this on your own huge creature when facing a super-defensive opponent who's loaded up with kill spells. You're swinging with some massive beast who's buffed to heck with Exalted triggers and combat tricks, and your opponent decides to Doom Blade it, so what do you do? Stack his kill with one of your own for a huge amount of life. At the very least, if you can't use this spell for its original defensive purpose, you can use it to salvage what would have been a wasted assault... and if your opponent knows you're sitting there with this card, he may be just that little bit more inclined to let the attack through.
Plus, if you've made your big guy indestructible, all the better. The "destroy" and "gain life" triggers work irrespective of each other.
