A cloaked stranger stalked the dodgy rat infested corridor's of the Ravnican undercity. After several minutes he came across a brass door, He looked for a signal or anything to Identify it as the door he sought, and there it was. Carved into the base of the door adjacent to the hinge was a single feather, no larger than a thumb, and coated in blue-black ink.

He knocked, and after a moments hesitation a gaunt Vedalken flung open the small window flap and demanded a password. Impatient, the cloaked man responded "Storm Crow descending, winter unending." The Vedalken broke out in a crooked grin and responded "Storm crow departing summer is starting! Come in comrade." The door swung open to reveal yet another crooked passageway, and the motley crew pressed onward. "We recently fell under attack by the Golgari Scavengers, it seem's they are looking for more corpses than ever with Niv Mizzet's endgame nearing us, and they just stumble in" The old wizard laughed. "I trust they weren't succes... (see all)

One of these days, some kid new to Magic is going to come along and read all of the sarcastic comments for this guy and Chimney Imp... and they're going to take them seriously, giving them a very skewed perception of the game.

I once renamed a _____ storm crow, and changed its flavor text to match. All 5 opponents left the table.

To get me a drink from my ashnod's coupons, but when they got back they scooped.

Storm Crow puts you on a 23 turn win-clock, which is faster than 26-turn Chimney Imp. Synergizes with blue tempo-counterspell cards to stop your opponent from even touching your already OP Crow. It can peck Jace the Mind Sculptor to death and dodge Stormtide Leviathan. It comes out 4 turns earlier than Frost Titan and even that doesn't have flying. Wizards had to invent Spell Snare just to slow this card down. It goes without saying that I took out all the aforementioned cards from my MUC deck because because this was a much better win condition. On top of all of that, you can discard Storm Crow for Force of Will which, by extension, knocks-out every combo-deck in legacy, modern, or extended (something you can't do with Tarmogoyf or even Chimney Imp). I would rather play against 4-copies of each of the Power Nine, than play against one copy of Storm Crow.

I us... (see all)

Quoting another fellow on here by the name of Salient who explained the origins of the Storm Crow joke:

"Storm Crow jokes first emerged with Alliances, because you could pitch Storm Crow to Force of Will. The joke began as a reaction to the over-the-top blue hype of the day -- between Force and Diminishing Returns, many people said that Alliances had given Blue all the best cards. There was some serious-sounding hyperventilative discussion of whether it would ever be sane to play any other color. "Alliances broke blue" is the sort of thing people would say, as well as "Force of Will makes any random blue card better than every other card in the game." Stuff like that.

In response to that, people would jokingly assert that Storm Crow must be the most broken card ever, because it was blue and printed in Alliances. This made all the more sense because of the flavor text (you can read "the worst" as "the worst card ever" literally or as "the most... (see all)
