Run this card with the Kor from Zendikar or the Leonin from Mirrodin for combat tricks larger than just a +1/+1.

you can hardcast this on creatures with shroud to make them bigger, so that's nice.

An interesting ability that may become pretty useful if ever a creature ability will be printed that will trigger upon being equipped.

@SavageBrain: I thought the exact same thing. Something like "When Grifter's Blade enters the battlefield, equipped creature gains first strike until end of turn" should work fine since it enters equipped (rather than entering and then equipping, and I'm pretty sure you can stack triggers so that works anyway)

It certainly expresses the flavor of a murder for hire waiting in a back ally of a crowded city street, ready to stab you at any moment with their well hidden blade. The card itself however should've then at least included first strike or something in addition with the +1/+1 effect. Paying three mana for a permanent +1/+1 effect isn't really worth it.

Not bad. At least you don't have to pay an equip cost for the first time, so it's more like the casting cost is 2. (Unless you have a metalcraft deck or are doing something else weird.)

Trusty Machete works out to be the same cost once equipped. This is really only worthwhile if you're going for a combo.

It's a weak permanent "giant growth" in any color, in artifact form, prior to the horrible mistreatment of the color pie that was Mutagenic Growth and the entire New Phyrexia set in 2011. Its bonus scales with "as long as CARDNAME is equipped" and doublestrike. Playable in limited and EDH. That's all I can say. Oh, and I guess Puresteel Paladin doesn't mind instant card draw. Come to think of it, this equipment should already cantrip.

Really cool idea. Lackluster execution.
A card this cool deserves to be at least decent. First strike or a cantrip would have gone along nicely with the thieving flavour.

Compare Battlegrowth. This costs 2 more, but it's a Leonin Scimitar instead of a counter, so it can stick around after the creature dies. But still, 3 mana is a bit much for +1/+1.
