It's not an artifact because wall of spears and shields are simple objects. A wall of animated swords though is magic. And animating walls was early on the business of white (animate wall, rolling stones).

What the heck is getting scrunched by the swords? Some sort of green goo monster who couldn't hit the brakes in time.

Must be invisible spirits holding up the swords? Otherwise should be an artifact creature.
