I like this in my Ensnaring Bridge deck even though I wouldn't call it particularly necessary. Deals burn damage and then I further torment my opponent by keeping my creatures strong against whatever small summons he gets through my bridge if my hand happens to be too big. And if I don't have any creatures out but I DO have the bridge, I can enchant an opponent's for the damage and not have to worry too much about it being a problem.

If your opponent has the only creature on the field, you can enchant and target that creature to kill it right?

Handy as it is, it sadly invalidates Fencer's Magemark, at least in part. Pity really, a red enchantment deck has a certain...ridiculous appeal to me, and this thing's actually fairly good.

This is a pretty decent enchant. Normally, the fear of using enchantments is the "2 for 1." I play a creature and and enchantment, you play one kill card. I lost two cards you only lost one.
But with this card, I'm at the very least, getting in a lightning bolt. And I MIGHT actually get to keep my first strike. At that point, even if they kill my enchanted creature, I can still look at it as though I used an expensive lightning bolt. Not the best option, but better nothing.

it's kinda like a lightning bolt + kamahl's desire without the threshold ability. not bad

Sorcery speed Lightning Bolt for {2} more with the possibility of making a creature that much better? Yes please! Only problem i can see is it's a dead draw if there are no creatures on the battlefield, and it can still be a potential "2 for 1" for your opponent if they Doom Blade the targeted creature in response. If you really need the 3 damage you can always enchant an opponent's creature, i mean if it'll win you the game, why not?

I love this. I like the flavor and the card. And the art. And the extension. And the... Oh, I'll just say 5/5.

I've never been a fan of the EtB-special-effect Auras as a method for overcoming the inherent card-disadvantage weakness of the card type. It's a little clunky and weird, and of course it does nothing against removal in response to cast anyway. Anyway, if this were printed nowadays, it'd probably do 4 damage, but it's not bad in block.

Slap it on a cheap deathtoucher and this will create some serious headaches.
