Everything becomes a shade.
Far better than most would give it credit for.

Not a bad place to dump mana when you're ready to start beating people senseless.

suddenly 1/1s become X+1/X+1s. All of your creatures are threats.

Shades in black are a win condition. You catch your foe when he or she has let their guard down, and swing for the win. The shade lurks on the edges of combat, easily pinging away life due to the constant threat of it becoming suddenly bigger than the creatures blocking it. But the shade ability in green? The colour of mana acceleration? It gets so much bigger, and so much scarier.
You have this (a 3/3), an elephant (3/3), and two 2/2s. It's the turn after you play this. You have six mana open. You swing at your opponent with everything. They have two 4/4s and a 1/1. What do they block? Nothing? 16 damage, potentially. Or 10 and you drop a blocker postcombat. Do they block something? They will lose a creature. You probably won't. This puts some serious pressure on your opponents, and can force them into making some sub-par choices.
Accelerate some mana, and you won't lose a creature to damage any time soon.

This is like turning every one of your creatures into a Frozen Shade... nasty. There are far worse cards you could have in your deck.

This can certainly make blocking hard for your opponent!

Not that bad, but unfortunately you can only use green mana to boost your creatures despite that guy being a 3/3 five-drop.

Team up with Nantuko Mentor to go nuts. This guy doesn't NEED the mentor to be awesome, but Timmy likes overkill.
