Great card, but somehow every time I add one to a deck I end up taking it out soon after. I know this card deserves a spot but no matter what there is always a more synergistic card to add instead.

Ha, epic flavour.
Also, the card itself is pretty good, very balanced and very green. Can turn anyone in a fatty and with all mana ramp green offers, this can potentially turn 1/1 into 11/11. IT is balanced, since one Bolt to the face kills him anyhow, unelss you cast him later in game, when you have more mana.
4/5 for power, 4.5/5 for flavour and 4.5/5 for balance. Nice card, 4.5/5

a Green shade ability for all of your creatures is actually quite useful for green. Green often relies on heavy mana pools, and with ursapine, it allows you to make the most of your mana. Hell, it turns the simple Llanowar Elves into a T: target creature gets +1/+1 until the end of the turn.
Sure, its no reusable Giant Growth, it provides you with strategy. And if you have Om nom Omnath, or Upwelling, you can charge up for a psuedo-Overrun and deal massive damage.

I really do love this card, and I can't wait to get the chance to play it.
I think it finds a nice home with Viridian Joiner in EDH.
