Ah. A simple bit of knowledge is required: The Golgari guild is headed by Savra, Queen of the Golgari. It is to her that the flavor text refers.

The flavor text doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I always thought the Golgari signet looks like the head of an insect. That could be the guardian of the natural cycle, but I don't see a woman in there...
