This vused to be a great card because it's rare. Most people didn't know that it existed and thus we had these kind of games:
I attack with my Sengir Vampire.
Ok, I block with my Mesa Pegasus.
Ok, the Pegasus dies Sengir gets bigger.
Not so fast. I cast Righteousness.
You cast WHAT?

AMAZING! One mana for +7/+7. Talk about catching your opponent off guard.

only good in the situation you can't take out the other player's creature with something else.. too defensive.

This'd be awesome on something that can block multiple creature's, like a Palace Guard.

There is better removal/ defense, but this has 3 applicable purposes ordinary removal does NOT.
1. Intentionally having a creature block, and live, against a fatty because you gain benefits specifically when you block.
2. Hexproof (duh).
3. It is simply much more satisfying watching an epic wurm get destroyed by, say, birds of paradise. anyone can be terminated, but it takes a very special kind of wurm to die to a bird.
