this card is devestating. I put him in my divine deck, and he kills. his +1 ability keeps my life total happy, and with all the angels, i dont lose life much. i dont ever really use his -1 ability until i get the avatar out, but it helps a lot, all of your creatures getting +1/+1... sheesh, that kills. by the time the avatar is out, im generally at 30 life, and a 30/30 is nothing to laugh at. Sheer domination. I recomend this card to any white deck, it will win you the game

Obviously, the the -1 ability is the best. Ajani Goldmane is great in White Weenie decks but not much else. The lifegain and avatar probably good in some rogue decks.

Well: first ability just give you 2 life, well that is a few weak in comparation whit the others PLanes walkers, but the second ability is very good, en the third one is an Avatar of Serra. And he comes into play with 4 loyaty counters and just need for do his last power, its solid but definitely not the best Planeswalker.
Pues: La primera habilidad es bueno pero un tanto floja en comparacion con la de otros caminantes, pero la segunda habilidad es bastante buena y claro la tercera que basicamente es un Avatar de serra. Entra en juego con 4 contadores y solo pide 6 para realizar su poder final (por asi llamarlo), asi que mi opinion es solido, pero la verdad no es el mejor caminante de planos.

The problem with the Avatar is that you people presume that your opponents are going to try and prevent you from getting a ridiculously powerful creature.
Besides, Negate > Planeswalkers ;)
Of course, Ajani is a cool card, and the 2 life gain does provide a nice cushion.
A friend of mine has him, and in the times that he's actually resolved, he hasn't played the -1 once.. I wonder why? The effects are permanent and much easier to get hold of several times than the Avatar. While the Avatar may be game breaking, why would anyone let you get a game breaking card onto the battlefield. (this can be prevented in many ways- Evasion (flying, unblockable, intimidate, fear), Bounce it, etc.)
The -1 ability can potentially be played turn 1, leaving with 3, and then restored back if not attacked.
All in all, a cool card, but not as great as some of you make him out to be ;)

Ajani's first ability is useful although mabye not as powerful as some of the other first abilities of the other planeswalkers. His second ability is amazing and downright lethal in creature and token decks. And unlike other planeswalker situations where a person will have to decide wether to attack or keep thier planeswalker, Ajani makes both options available. Even if Ajani is hit with a burn spell, as long as it doesn't kill him, it means the owner of him can gain small portions of live, making it harder for the opponent to kill them. His last ability(a big creature with no trample or flying) is good, but really useless compared to his other two abilites which work amazing in token and life gain decks. Overall one of the best planeswalker out there.

I dont play white often, but looking back at recent cards, then looking at this card, I can only think of battle grace angel, Rafiq of the many, cradle of vitality and my new favorite equipment, behemoth sledge
Yes I summon my avatar, even though it is only 10/10
I swing with it, it is a 14/14 double striker, double lifelinker with trample
first strike, 14 damage, gain 28 life, pay 1W, place 28 +1/+1 counters
normal strike, hit for 70, gain 140 life, pay 1W, place 140 +1/+1 counters
now your life total has shot up 168 points and you have a creature with your life total, 178, and 170 +1/+1 counters on it for a huge 348/348 creature
and if your opponent survived that, they wont the next turn, and you are many times better off then you were

As with most planeswalkers, if you have Ajani and a white deck, use him. He can actually give a lifegain deck a chance at winning!..... Well, maybe.

Ajani is the weakest of all the printed Planeswalkers to date. He really only has one relevant ability and that is the gainlife part. Other than that his abilities don't really compare to others.

I like ajani. However, if you read the comics, it seems he stayed Ajani Goldmane for about 10 minutes before changing to Ajani Vengeant.
