Dragon's Herald this out, sacrificing the herald and two perfectly expendable Jund Hackblades, and you're good. Of course, you've just 3-for-1'd yourself, but who cares? It's a DRAGON!
Too bad this never saw as much play as Kargan Dragonlord.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned how they downgraded this guy's rarity for the set. Every other card was rare or lower, except Bogardan Hellkite, which was also printed as mythic but was originally rare. Strange that Mythic Rare existed at the time, but Wizards chose to make these cards all Rare.

Timmy must love this guy. And actually, he's sort of got a point; if you manage to get this guy down, you'll probably win. In Constructed, though, that just makes him good reanimation fodder, since you're almost never going to "fairly" play anything with an eight-mana, three-colour casting cost. (But never say never; look at the current popularity of Cruel Ultimatum. That does cost one less mana, but it's much more colour-specific and doesn't involve green, which can make such a cost much easier to meet.)
Regeneration is almost redundant on a beast of this magnitude; a much nicer defensive benefit is the simple fact that Hellkite Overlord is black, rendering it immune to a lot of the cheaper toughness-independent point-removal in most formats.

I really like the 8cc tricolors. They may not be cost efficient, but I guess I'm a Timmy. And a bit of a Jimmy, but I love to see the big ones hit the table.
