This is better than Reckless Spite because you can prevent the damage. Loss of life can't be prevented.

The life loss is definitely something to be mindful of, but the two-for-one and exile rather than destroy is unbelievably great. All for a reasonable price. Plus there's the great name and flavor text. This is one of the most perfectly black cards there is, in my opinion.

So far everytime I've casted this and took 5 damage I've got the concession. In Legacy it is extremely difficult to overcome getting 2 creatures exiled while being assaulted by land destruction at the same time. Mind this card!

One of the only black cards that can outright exile even one creature. Eradicate and Sever the Bloodline are others, though Eradicate only hits nonblack, and nonartifact is far superior than nonblack, which is why Go For the Throat is a more versatile card than Doom Blade, save for monoblack decks that need answers to artifacts, in which case Reckless Spite would shine. Sever the Bloodline is a superior alternative to this if the creatures are likely to have the same names.

Interesting, Reckless Spite is an instant but destroys two nonblack creatures. Not sure which one is better.
Nonartifact > Nonblack (I think). Exile > Destroy. Sorcery < Instant.
