Life for cards has made some broken enchantments, this is great but not broken. Should be reprinted.

I'll agree that its not broken. The thing that limits you most is the mana cost. Necropotence and Yawgmoth's Bargain are free to activate, letting you do it any number of times as long as you have life. That's what makes them broken in my opinion. This will draw you three cards for seven mana and six life, or ten cards for fourteen mana and twenty life. Necro will draw you ten cards for three mana and ten life.
On the other hand, you don't skip your draw step, and you don't exile cards you discard. So its not "strictly worse," its just "usually worse" than those two powerful enchantments.

This is an amazing draw engine for black, and is easily worth a 4/5 rating. The mana cost keeps it from being totally insane, but if combined with lifegain, this thing is going to get ridiculous.

Having played this... No, it really is quite broken.
Being worse than Bargain doesn't necessarily mean it's balanced. ;-)

Needs a lower cost, 2 life is pretty steep. On the other hand, who doesn't like to Sign in Blood every turn?

Yeah... this thing is brutal. And CONTROLLABLE. Other forms of black draw have some horrible drawback - this just says 'Yeah, pay 2 life and a black, draw a card. Y'know, whenever you feel like it.'
Just cos a card isn't Necropotence doesn't mean it can't mess up things.

It's amusing that they had this, then they printed Necropotence and Yawgmoth's Bargain anyway. Did they really think that skipping your draw phase (which amounted to paying 1 life a turn to make back up) made up for halving the life cost and removing the mana cost?
