Amen brother!
What irks me is that they did it with such blatant lies as: "99% of those who say they know how banding works don't." Unless WoTC has told us fibs how it works we all knew how it works.
I do know that there are very complicated possibilities with banding, but most of those didn't happen in normal play and they would have been much easier to handle by issuing rulings. Let's take an example:
Player A attacks with Mesa Pegasus and White Knight as a band. Player B blocks with Bog Imp and Thicket Basilisk. After blockers have been assigned player A (or B doesn't matter which) removes banding from Mesa Pegasus. What happens. Intution says that the Basilisk blocks the Knight and the Imp blocks the Pegasus, but still we might have even more complicated situation where intuition has nothing to say.
My solution would have been this: Removing banding after blockers has been declared doesn't chang... (see all)

tavaritz, I hate to say it, but you don't know how banding works. Banding is only ever declared or invoked when forming a band to attack. Once combat begins, you can't disband your creatures -- they're stuck together until the end of combat. You certainly can't have a creature escape being blocked by having it abandon its partner(s).
Even in the rare case of effects that actually remove the banding ability from a creature, I believe the creatures would still stay banded once the attack had begun.
Banding really isn't complicated -- most people just assume it is or that you can do all sorts of things that you just plain can't.

White has never been the same since they killed banding.

This. From what I remember from the rule book (that used to come with every deck!) the only benefit you get from banding is that YOU get to determine how to distribute the combat damage done to your banded creatures. They don't share abilities, they don't get to sneak through the blockers, but you CAN distribute all 10 damage from the opponent's blocking Leviathan to the weakest, most-replaceable critter in your attacking band.
