"YOU. LIT. YOURSELF. ON FIRE. WHY DID YOU LIGHT YOURSELF ON FIRE."
"Huh? Seriously? Because. They can't grab me if I'm on fire.." *points at head*

It's funny how Immolation of all cards got a kind-of reprint here.

I remember using that for creature destruction... Yup, those were the dark ages for me

Probably one of the best-flavored +X/-X card i've seen.
Regrettably not all that useful though.
I know it's supposed to be a somewhat dynamic card, but in comparison to other cards it just does not quite seem to achieve either thing.

Now if the fire would grow (so the creature would get +1/-1 each turn by using counters - either directly on the creature or special ones on the aura), this would be a whole lot more interesting.
This would also flavorwise make sense, since as it is, a Scathe Zombie actually won't die by this Guise of Fire eventually.
Would probably have been too elaborate for a Common slot then though.
(But it would make an interesting red version of Unstable Mutation...)

OK, I agree, this is a terrible card...but...

In limited I killed SO MANY otherwise troublesome aggro weenies with it. So many soulbonders are either 2/1 or 1/1. It was VERY nice to get them out of the way before they could bond!

This thing's pretty obviously bad for constructed, but in limited... ok, it's still pretty lame, but it has a use when you consider that AVR (and all of Innistrad block) has a pretty low amount of removal. It's not the thing that anyone would enjoy running, but it doesn't deserve a 1.5; I'd give it a 2/5.

This card isnt completely useless. You can chuck it on an opponent's utiltiy so that it throws itself onto your blockers.

But it still is a terrible card

Best quote I've seen in this set so far. =D

Too bad the card is kinda "meh."

As a pump, Furor of the Bitten is a better card.
As a one-toughness kill spell, Geistflame is a better card.
