Ill be running this in EDH. Drop it on a general in response to anything that makes them search their library.

If there's one format that I've only started to figure out, it's limited (it's a shame, though. I've only played limited and EDH for the past two years).

This is one of the worst things to be played against, ESPECIALLY when there's an Aura on it. You're not killing it, but more-so wasting one of their turns. They either have to play the returned creature, or play whatever is in their hand before this was played. You know what one of the choices is, and since they chose the creature over whatever's left in their hand, you know the latter isn't going to be as good.

Although I don't know what you mean by that Templar: I don't think there's much mill in DKA.

That being said, the newest version of this, Totally Lost, is being played in a set (and in the colours) with Dimir: The Milling Guild.

yay they took away the flashback on Grasp of Phantoms and made it a sorcery. i love it when WotC makes terrible decisions.

edit:
@DarthParallax: tell that to moment's peace
there are currently 46 instant cards with flashback and 64 sorcery cards with flashback... i think you need some fact checking. 42% of the cards with flashback are instants. sure it's not the majority, but that's still a sizable number.
I know the value of this card; I use to play Ether Well in Mirage years ago. Even still, i'd rather play Vanishment. At least with the +1cmc I'm not restricted to just creatures and there's a shot at using the miracle cost. And furthermore, Spin into Myth hits for more removal/control all in all. My assessment of this card remains at 2/5 despite public opinion.

The god of the sea has deemed it necessary for this to return. Why?

Glad to see this effect as an instant! Good for tempo advantage, not much else to say. 3/5

Since this is a worse version of Ether Well, it probably won't get good reception. But in Limited, this could be useful for not setting off Undying and Morbid, and the abundance of mill will sometimes make the removal permanent.

Remember what this card actually means:
Return target creature to it's owner's hand.
That player skips his or her next draw.

It's technically slightly better than that.
In conjunction with all the easy mill around here, it can instead read: "destroy target creature." without actually triggering morbid, or any of those pesky "dies" abilities.

Pretty fun just in what is currently in standard, for blue mill decks this can easily be a kill spell.

I'd rather spend a green mana and play Temporal Spring.

Ridiculously underrated. Grasp of Phantoms, sacrificing flashback for instant speed.

As others are correctly pointing out, this is an incredible ability. Not only does your opponent have to recast their creature and wait through summoning sickness again (as with Unsummon or Vapor Snag), but much more importantly you're preventing your opponent from getting any new cards.

And with instant speed, it now fits perfectly into draw-go control; if you don't need to cast any counters, you can cast this to remove a threat and stagger your opponent's tempo before the end of your opponent's turn.

Definitely playable in Standard.
