Since there's lots of comparisons in the other comments: Honestly, I'd rather have this guy poking me for 2 a turn than Hypnotic Specter. Losing even one card randomly from my hand can wreck my strategy, whereas a total life swing of 4 can be survived for a couple turns while I try to draw an answer.

I'm glad Wizards makes cards like this uncommon more frequently nowadays. It's nice to get a playset of cool playable Vampires by just cracking some packs instead of pulling up eBay.

I like that this vamp's a Shaman. It's a neat, unexpected flavor that also justifies the abilities -- it seems like the lifelink and deathtouch come from this supposedly-spiritless creature of the night's spiritual connection to the natural world. You can imagine Nighthawk ritualistically self-painting shamanistic markings along its own arms while it sits in your hand, waiting to be cast into the world.

Flying 2/3 for 3? decent. Flying 2/3 vampire for 3? Better. Flying 2/3 vampire with deathtouch for 3? Damn, i want to make a deck with THAT card... Flying 2/3 vampire with deathtouch AND lifelink for 3!? I am most definitely making a deck with THIS card.

@WateryMind: while that would be nice, Baneslayer Angel owns this with her first strike damage before vampire nighthawk can get a point of damage in for deathtouch... This is still a powerful card though.

Overpowered piece of crap, never should have made this card.... its not even power creep, its power leap. now let me hit you with my Hypnotic Specter. Yea, now that's the good ol' days.
