Clearly worse than Briarhorn but still somehow really good.

Some needs to tell majinara that Commander isn't the only format worth reviewing. Oh, and they also need to tell him to shut up.

Its true Briarhorn is the better card on paper, but as someone has mentioned already; Briarpack Alpha is a Wolf; meaning there's far more possible synergy. Elementals have synergy as well, but usually in red, whereas wolf-friendly cards are green, so you're not forced to splash a colour you don't want.

Someone, somewhere, is going to happily deem this better than Briarhorn and put it in a deck with Wren's Run Packmaster (thus inventing the Ambush Wolf).

unlike Briarhorn, It's a wolf (which means something in were/wolf tribal and innestrad limited. As far as I know, that makes it slightly different enough to not make it strictly worse than briarhorn.

Good card, 4 for a 5/5 blocker on your opponents turn, or pump one of your other blockers, it can also be used as a Mutagenic Growth if you need it. The versatility is where the high cost comes from, in werewolf decks this is even more fearsome.

oh my gosh. I can't believe it. Ever since Garruk, the Veil-Cursed was spoiled, I've been seeing Beauty and the Beast cards all through the Block.

Garruk- Beast
Liliana- the Enchantress
Gruesome Deformity- the curse!
Geistcatcher's Rig- that axe machine thing
Gavony Township- Bonjour!
Reckless Scholar- Belle's father (ONLY the first side)
Desperate Ravings- throwing Belle's father in the asylum
Daybreak Ranger- no one FIGHTS like Gaston!
Briarpack Alpha- the wolves. there are lots of wolves, but these are especially similar to the movie.
Rooftop Storm- the Castle
Kessig Wolf Run- the woods
Cellar Door- the West Wing (it's a forbidden place, kinda?)
Angry Mob- angry mob
pitchforks and torches- pitchforks and torches
???-Magic Mirror???

Now all we need is for Avacyn to be a beautiful French brunette nerd. archangel. spirit. thing. :p

Commander review: it's a cute card, but again not good enough for Commander. It's etb effect can sometiems rescue a creature or kill another, but you don't want to keep four mana open at all times, so that won't happen that often. And once in play, it's still just a hill giant. 1.5/5
