Test of a player's Magic expertise: put this on a Isochron Scepter, and counter whatever spell they attempt next. That spell goes on top of their library, and they draw it next turn, at which time you point out you'll just Lapse it over and over again. Encourage them to nonetheless play it out.
How many turns of does it take them (if any) to realize they can break the soft lock and see new cards, by just not casting any spells for a turn? Or do they actually quit the game, figuring they're locked forever?

The only thing sadder than my buying a ton of Homelands way back when I started playing (boosters were so cheap!) is that I absolutely did not understand why this was such a good card. "Why would I ever want to use this? They're just going to play the same spell again next turn!" Yeah.

Once, I played this on my friend's Mirari's Wake in EDH, and then hit his creature with Path to Exile. It then hit him what just happened as he was looking through his library for a basic land.
