What's funny is this card won PQT Houston a while back in Justin Gary's Oath of druid's deck.

Remember that it's ALL graveyards. LBy the time you get eight mana, this thing could turn out to be massive. Run in BlueBlack so you might cheat him out of the graveyard. Discard the Cognivore. You might use Catalog to do it while drawing two with the added benefit of another instant in your graveyard to boost the Cognivore when you bring him out of it. Want it for five mana? Rise From The Grave will do it for you. Now it's a zombie Cognivore.

You'd think something called a Cognivore would be a zombie anyway. They eat brains, right?

@DysprosiumJudas
Quirion Dryad grows with each spell you play, and Primordial Hydra scales to size over turns and mana cost. The former was used in a deck called "miracle gro" and the latter was born in a standard environment with strife and negativity.

The Cognivore/Counterspell deck still wins games. Sometimes.

But yes, you only make that deck out of sheer stubbornness. It's not good.

Jeez, they REALLY wanted to be careful with this one. I guess they didn't want the Cognivore/Counterspell deck to be viable.

If only it were reprinted at a playable mana cost. I mean, now that Lord of Extinction's been printed, there's no turning back. If its cost were about 5 or 6, it could work as an attractive control finisher, though its flying might have to be taken away for balance.
It's a cool idea and it could pay off if done right, but I'm not sure if it's worth the effort.
I love the art, too. Nothing says "scary blue fattie" like a flying dragon-wolf-goat thing.
