This is still a really nice card, and the fact that it can be used twice is really awesome. It's always nice to see the look on your opponent's face when they forget about this, and get hit by a much larger creature late in the game.
Also, tacking Lightning Bolt and haste onto a creature for 
is really solid, because that's what it often becomes. Even turn 0 Memnite or Ornithopter can help you get some damage in, with this.

Run with Goblin Tunneler, Kiln Fiend, and Assault Strobe. 20 unblockable damage headed your way! Heck, even only 2 of those 3 combo well with this card!
This card would be good even if it didn't have flashback.

Beautiful with Kiln Fiend, Keldon Marauders, Lavacore Elemental, or many many other creatures. It's nice that it's such a big boost that it's worth it even when Haste doesn't count.

@ blurrymadness - It's not unusual to see old spells outclass their newer counter parts, the power curve for spells has steadily been decreasing.
Although Spiritmonger is just amazing. ;)
