So very overpowered 0_o
Though there is some point in rating based on like/dislike, since magic is ultimately a game. A card can be bad because it's just not fun to play against. That said, I'd probably just abstain voting in that sort of situation.

How could someone rate the epic Sol Ring less than a 5?

because some players don't rate a card by power and tend to make their vote dependant from whether they like or dislike the card.
you shouldn't do so in my opinion, though.

I found one of these in a box of cheerio's one time. Not the card, an actual sol ring. Burnt my lips.

If you're not playing this in edh you're doing it wrong.

Cards should be rated on more than just power
There's Flavor, Power, Usability, and of course there's when a card is just a bit overpowered.
That said, Since the card is called Sol Ring I would've expected it to tap for white mana and it is a bit overpowered as far as things go. It absolutely breaks the mana curve. Compare with Ur Golem's Eye, Thran Dynamo and many other artifacts that tap for mana like this one.
I think it gets a 4.5. It just breaks the game. When there's a card that exists that's so good everyone NEEDS to be playing it, it shouldn't get a 5, but that's just my opinion.

@Twisted Soul: What the hell is Cheerios doing with a sol ring? He should be annhilated at all costs.

Funny how you have to be fairly lucky to have a "Shit outta luck" Ring.
