Worth being Mythic-ized. Compare to Darksteel Colossus and Platinum Angel.

Also, I guess, to Akroma's Memorial, but less so. I feel that Memorial was more Dominaria-flavored and partly in because Bolas was in? I feel that card represented more an Homage than A Staple Effect.

Citadel, Colossus, and Angel feel Extremely Core Set, Memorial feels GOOD, but more Commander-y or Cube-y than Core Set, by an inch. :)

Kind of like how Phylactery Lich was printed in M13, I wonder why this was printed now.

I understand they had to keep this way from a core set where Artifacts could be abused, but I don't remember seeing any Affinity decks playing this in it. It is a little more obvious they kept this as far away from Master Transmuter as possible.

I also guess the Core Sets are a dumping ground for all spells you can't reprint in themed sets. I mean, it wouldn't have made sense if Darksteel was found in Ravnica.

So my theory is they did it so casual and EDH players didn't have to spend $10 on one, if the store hand it. Also, adavey_mtg/badmalloc, with an ability like that, you can't have an ability like this without making it very expensive.

It becomes useful by that time because it can be the final push you need. If, say, you were at a standstill where you had a large army and they had a large army, playing this could be just what you need to win.

Cool flavor text, but makes no sense as a reprint.

Junk rares are a mild annoyance... junk mythics are a disaster.

Does this really need to cost 9?

Dafaq did this get made a mythic for, and why was it reprinted at all!?

Still I guess its neat to have it back in standard, and perhaps this means Phyrexia on Theros?

Ok, I'll admit, I've only been playing Magic for about a year, but this card at 9 cmc seems pretty useless to me.

In all of my playing, I can count on one hand the number of times either side had more than 9 land cards and/or creatures available to tap for mana before the game was over. So please tell me how this card is useful by the time anyone can get around to casting it. What other artifacts are you using this with to make it worthwhile?

Thanks.

Thanks to Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Hammer of Purphoros, this has an actual Standard purpose now. An army of 3/3 indestructible golems with haste is an intimidating thing for your opponent to face down.
